2015年大聯盟選秀會9日正式展開，去年爐主響尾蛇握有首輪狀元籤，以第一指名選上范德堡大學(Vanderbilt University)游擊手史旺森(Dansby Swanson)。本次前3順位皆是游擊手也創下選秀史51年來首見。
新科狀元史旺森在2012年就曾參加選秀，當時第38順位才被選中，他因此決定先念大學；去年帶領學校拿下美國大學世界大賽冠軍，並勇奪MVP獎項，今天稍早的比賽更是率隊以4比2力克對手，再度打進今年的世界大賽。
今年共出賽64場，史旺森繳出打擊率3成48，22支二壘安打、6支三壘安打、14轟以及61分打點的優異成績，成為1974年教士阿爾蒙(Bil Almon)後，史上第2位大學游擊手選秀狀元。
「大聯盟優秀的游擊手很難找到。」響尾蛇球探總管拉德尼爾(Deric Ladnier)表示，「史旺森相當出色，他是天生的贏家，擁有很棒的潛力。我認為響尾蛇很適合他，盼他能與球隊一起前進。」
得知成為選秀狀元後，史旺森相當興奮，「我想這天已經不能再更好了。我的家人在得到消息後馬上趕到球場，能跟家人以及隊友一起分享這份喜悅，真的是相當棒。」
